This Blog

My beliefs and mission statement:

This blog was actually originally going to be called ‘Your Health Matters’ as it has two meanings; it is about health matters, but more importantly because your health does matter.  Society and our present day culture is dependent upon your health running optimally.  If it is running optimally then your overall performance in general, whether it be at work, bringing up the next generation of children or just being a voice; it all matters.  Plus you have the expense of society for covering sick bills and that, at the end of the day, comes from our own pockets.  Imagine if the sick bills where significantly reduced, then that money could be used on improving areas like education for children, providing better ways to produce food naturally and increase the efficiency of how we use our source of energy.  Of course the uses are numerous, but the point is the same.

My other belief is that it is my job is to ‘lead you to health’.  I have accepted that at the end of the day I can't always get everyone better.  The body and science of it, is just way too complex for us humans to fully grasp.  Although I invest a lot of time to constantly improve and learn new things, there will always be someone I can’t cure.  That is ok.  But I still have a job to do in leading that person to the right therapist or care, so from there they can hopefully get better.

Why this blog started:

I want to use this blog to generate a greater awareness of the common conditions that affect our society.  There is literally tons and tons of information on weight training, nutrition, diet and healthy living.  But not very much on how the body actually works from a practical, mechanical perspective.  Why is it people who have had a disc prolapse nearly always have regularly reoccurring low back pain for long periods of their lives?  Why do so many runners get achilles tendonitis?  Why is it some people who have done lots of core training or strength training still get low back pain?

I have noticed a trend already since blogging and that is how often rumors, grounded on nothing or based on miss-understanding, do the rounds on the internet.  What I want to try and do is go to the very source of a particular subject and then provide you with all the information so you can pick and choose.  The best way to use this blog is to subscribe via RSS feed or email to get the updates when they arrive.

Your own experiences are important:

When reading this blog I really want to encourage you to add your own comments, especially your personal experiences as this will help build the library I want to create. Please also feel free to agree or disagree with what I have to say as this will only heighten the debate; and as always, if you have any questions/queries, please don't hesitate to ask or contact me.
